May Goals (and a little of April)

This month really sucked. How’s that for real talk?  Probably the worst I’ve had in a long, long time. Sorry for the #vagueblog, but that’s just the truth.  If you’ve struggled this past month, take comfort in knowing that you definitely aren’t alone!

Of course there were good moments, but this month really tested me.  I felt off the entirety of the month.  I’m not going to list out everything that bothered me because that seems counter productive, ha.  But of course, there were some highlights of the month, so let’s get to that!

Another trip to Disney!

Yes, it was my fifth time at Shanghai Disneyland, but who is counting? Obviously not me.  This place makes me happy, and it’s only 45 minutes from home, anyway!  I went with three friends from work and then after we went to the Cheesecake factory, which has become a tradition.  They have the same menu, including ranch dressing and buffalo sauce (?!), and when you’re an expat, that makes you have heart eyes, haha.

Hong Kong Sevens

Have you heard of the Sevens rugby tournament? To be honest, I hadn’t until a bunch of my friends decided to go.  I wasn’t going to go because really, I don’t care about sports and had been to Hong Kong twice, but FOMO got the best of me.  Although it was a very boozy weekend (and B ended up busting his ankle, poor guy!) it was really fun.  We all dressed up in costumes, and decided to go with a Mario theme (I was Princess Peach, natch).

A fun crafts class!

I love crafting (I’m 100% turning into my mother, haha).  Lisa, our friend Keri and I went to a DIY beauty workshop and it was a blast.  We made body scrubs and lotion bars and the lotion bars (made out of shea butter) smells so good, I kind of want to eat it. haha.  They have a DIY lipstick class that I really want to try!

If I was better at staging photos, I could have made this look so much cuter.  Haha.  The set up was adorable, and it was really fun!

World Scholar’s Cup

I mentioned it in this post from last year, but I’m a coach for the World Scholar’s Cup, which is a debate and writing competition.  This is my second year as a coach, and our kids TOTALLY rocked it this past regional round!  In June we will be traveling to Hanoi, Vietnam, and I’m pumped.  Anyway, the kids did amazing and it was a fun weekend.

Support from Friends

Of course, when you are going through tough stuff it’s important more than ever to surround yourself with people who lift you up.  I have the best people in my life.  People who will drop anything for me to help me or lift me up in prayer or cook me dinner on a nightly basis or just sit next to me and let me cry (lookin’ at you, B, who doesn’t read here anyway, so I can brag a little ;))  It doesn’t go unnoticed.

My squad and I watching Wicked.  It was so good!

OK, maybe this month wasn’t complete garbage! haha.  Writing out all the good stuff did make me feel better 🙂

May Goals

— Finish two books.  I was barely reading this month, again.  I am almost done with two books so I am sure I can nail this goal!  I would also like to challenge myself

— Try out a new craft class.  Who doesn’t love being creative?!

No alcohol month.  I’m not making a big dramatic statement to my IRL friends, but I can be honest with my blog friends, right? I have to not drink this month.  I’m a social person and I do enjoy sugary drinks and a glass of nice red wine, but for this month, it’s not an option.  My close friends here know this and are willing to support me and keep me in check, which I’m grateful for.  Plus, I’ll probably lose a little weight and save some money, too!  Next week I start my last five week course for my masters, too, which is motivating me to not be hungover/out too late when I really need to buckle down and finish strong!

Hit my step goal everyday this month.  I usually hit my step goal, because with teaching I’m always up and about moving around.  Sometimes on the weekends, I don’t, so this month I want to challenge myself to move more!

Have a fun date night with B.  This technically shouldn’t count as a goal since we already have one planned, but whatever!  Next weekend we are going to see Sleep No More.  Do you remember the episode of Gossip Girl where they go to a play inside a house and all wear masks? That’s where we are going! (Similar to the episode of Girls where Hannah figures out Jessa is seeing Adam!) I’m so excited.  Don’t worry, I’ll share how it is!

Secret goal.  Sorry, #vagueblog again…

I hope you had a wonderful month and that your May is off to a great start! xoxo
